The ICST PhD program is currently accepting applications for 3-year PhD positions that will start in the Fall of 2014.

In the framework of its "Investments for the Future" program, the French government organized calls for "Laboratories of Excellence" (LabEx) to form a few clusters of excellence all over France in all fields of research. ICST has been selected in 2012 and has been granted an 8M€ funding over 8 years The LabEx ICST is a national consortium of 16 research teams from 7 laboratories: LP2M (Laboratory of Molecular Physio-Medicine, Nice), IBV (Biology Institute of Valrose, Nice), IPMC (Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology, Sophia Antipolis), IGF (Institute of Functional Genomics, Montpellier), IBS (Institute of Structural Biology, Grenoble), GIN (Grenoble Institute of Neurosciences), and PhyCell (Laboratory of Cell Physiology, Lille).

ICST is currently seeking applications from outstanding students in the Life or Medical Sciences for highly competitive, fully funded PhD positions in the area of ion channel science and therapeutics.  The monthly salary will be 1760 € and provides social benefits

Application procedure

Applicants must have achieved academic excellence and must hold or receive, a university degree that qualifies them to enter a PhD or equivalent program such as a Masters 2 diploma. A minimum of 5-month experience in a laboratory (e.g. Master’s thesis work, practical training or rotation) is essential.

PhD applications must be sent to the email contact of the considered position by clicking on the position code in the panel. The title of your email must be written be as follows: “ICST PhD application – your name”.

The application in English must contain:

  • a full CV including name, gender, address, nationality, achieved (and in progress) degrees and a complete description of taken courses and grades obtained (including rankings when available)
  • a copy of your diplomas and certified transcripts of course work
  • a letter of motivation including your research experience and scientific interests
  • contact information (email address & tel) of two references

 

Selection procedure

Pre-selection : The ICST selection committee will shortlist candidates .

Interview: Selected applicants will meet the team leader for an onsite interview and visit.

Final selection : The ICST scientific committee will validate the selection by the team leaders. Acceptance letters will be sent immediately to the selected candidates, who will be asked to respond within 2 weeks.
